Road to Hana Honeymoon Photoshoot

One of the best things you can do on your honeymoon here is to have a Hawaii honeymoon photoshoot! Having a couple’s session while you’re traveling is always a great idea to document a beautiful time in your story together. And when you are celebrating your new life together after getting married, it’s an even sweeter time to do this. Sarah + Simeon knew they would want to capture some of their adventure together while honeymooning in Hawaii after getting married in Tennessee, so when they reached out about a honeymoon session on Road to Hana, I was stoked to help them plan something amazing! We knew that seeing the red sand beach and black sand beach had to happen, but we also wanted to find a pretty waterfall to play in as well. All this in mind, we set out early one morning in their Jeep!

Hawaii Honeymoon Photoshoot at Waianapanapa

As soon as we got to the black sand beach at Waianapanapa State Park, we were treated to the most beautiful sunrise. It was so clear that day and the sun came up right over the ocean, making for some beautiful light to play with. And there basically wasn’t anyone else at the beach!

We wandered along one of the coastal trails, stopping at some spots with gorgeous light and scenery. It was so sweet to photograph these two in this place, witnessing the love they have for each other and for nature.

Hiking to the Red Sand Beach

Next, we continued this adventurous Hawaii honeymoon photoshoot by heading over to the red sand beach! It’s a short drive from Waianapanapa and a little hike from there, so worth it because of the way it photographs. I’ve never seen a beach like this anywhere else and it makes for such a dramatic backdrop.

Waterfalls on the Road to Hana

No road trip on the Road to Hana is complete without at least one stop at a waterfall! Even though it had started pouring rain (pretty normal for Hawaii), we still wanted to get in just a couple of photos of Sarah + Simeon at one of the many gorgeous waterfalls that dot the map on Road to Hana. From all of my own trips on this windy road, I knew the perfect waterfall to take them to. Check out Hawaii Guide’s list of waterfalls on Road to Hana if you’re mapping a road trip of your own!

I love how they just rolled with the rain, Sarah hiking barefoot like a true Hawaii adventurer. Curious about planning your own Hawaii honeymoon photoshoot? I love putting this type of adventure together for couples visiting the islands. Reach out so we can get started!
